Well, it has been over a year since I last wrote in my blog, but I promise that all of the excuses for my hiatus are good ones. Last year, 2016, was an exciting year for a few different reasons, and there was lots to celebrate.
I started a new job with former colleagues in late 2015/early 2016 where I produced and continued to create broadcast quality graphics and content for network shows, promotions and social media, and befriended a team of wonderful people. In May, my sister-in-law graduated from Pharmacy school, and we celebrated not only her graduation, but also the acceptance of her first job out of school. Anyone that knows her knows that she is a rockstar and I'm so proud of her accomplishments. In June, I stood by a childhood friend's side as a bridesmaid on her wedding day and it was a blast celebrating with her and her husband's family. It makes me smile how long we've been friends, and I am so happy I was able to be part of her special day. My husband and I celebrated a few other weddings throughout the year, as well, all of which were beautiful and loads of fun, and we prepared for our own wedding in October, which leads me to the most exciting part of 2016.
The best part of 2016 was hands down getting to marry my husband, and celebrating with our loving families and lifelong friends. It was a beautiful and unforgettable day, and it's hard to believe how quickly it passed after a little over a year of preparations. Following the wedding, we were off to Sicily for our honeymoon where we binged on pasta, fish, espresso and gelato. We explored, learned a ton of history about the country, relaxed, took endless photos of the beautiful sites and scenery, and before we knew it, it was time to head back the States, and of course, back to work.
The election more or less consumed 2016 so when we returned from our honeymoon it was all hands on deck at work in preparation for Election Night in America. Unfortunately, the Election came and went, and so did my job. The good news is that change always means opportunity, and this change has landed me in a new role as a Freelancer, a role that is full of endless possibilities.
Like last year, I don't doubt that 2017 will present new opportunities, along with many challenges, but I'm excited for it all because if 2016 has taught me anything, it is that the words 'new' and 'change' can be used interchangeably. Change is nothing to be scared about but rather embraced. I'm excited, yet naturally nervous, about the experiences that are ahead of me both professionally and personally. Going into 2017 I've already embraced a few changes. I've adopted my new role as a freelancer and have begun working with some clients whose needs are expanding my professional experiences and relationships. My husband and I have become recent homeowners, which is a new role for the both of us, and I'm looking forward to all of the adventures together in our new home.
And in keeping with the 'new' I hope you'll enjoy the updates and additions to my website including new works, a new reel, this new blog post, and plenty more to come. Stay tuned and Happy 2017!
